“Poor Room Condition”

The recent stay at the Microtel in SLC was horrible. We traveled 500 miles from Nevada to attend a funeral for family. The toilet in the room did not flush. The valve in the toilet tank sticks and will not allow water to re-fill the tank to flush. Our arrival was late and no maintenance people available. You had to remove the top of the toilet tank and stick your hand into the toilet to move the valve to allow water back in. The bathroom is a terrible design. The countertop of the sink travels across the top of the toilet to not allow maintenence to be performed. I tried to talk with Carlos Roman who checked us out, but seems he was too pre-occupied to deal with the problem. He really showed no interest in solving the situation. His best solution was for us to simply leave and not bother him any longer. I believe the purpose of the staff at the hotel is customer service, but seems that is something that needs to be resolved. That is what a cutomer pays for - not a room that doesn't have basic amenities that do not function. The last thing we needed after 500 miles was a toilet that didn't work. Very poor situation, and no alternative option late at night. The hotel gets an "F" grade.
