“San Angelo - MicroTel”

I came back to the hotel at 9:30. My key card didn't work, so I proceeded to the front desk for a replacement. The clerk re-programmed the card, and it still didn't work. She gave me a new set of cards, and they still didn't work. I told her it was the reader and not the cards. Then she cleaned the card machine, and the 4th set of cards still didn't work. (that's a lot of trips up and down the elevator/hallway when you are ready for bed)She came up with the housekeeping key card, and it did not work either.She called her manager, and determined it was the batteries in the reader. They needed to call maintenance whom was not on site, and was going to be another 30 minutes (I had already been messing with this issue for 30 minutes).I asked her where the maintenance room was, and used their special screwdriver to dismantle the reader. It needed AA batteries, and the clerk went and retrieved some. After this, I was able to access my room around 10:45 p.m.When I asked about a discount, she said the Manager would do something since I fixed the door.When I checked out there was no discount. I asked the clerk (different persone than night before), and she seemed aware of the situation, then re-printed my receipt with a $30 discount.
