“While looking for a hotel as my stopping point on a 16 hour...”

  , Colorado Springs
While looking for a hotel as my stopping point on a 16 hour road trip being pregnant and having a 1 year old and dog with me, my main concern was safety. The reviews for this particular hotel looked good and the ratings weren't bad and they accepted pets. My mother in law also told me Microtel inns were good and safe places to stay. When we checked in, the guy at the desk told me to make sure I park on the side of the building because something could happen to my car if I parked in the back. That was the first bad thing. As we walked into the room, a strong dog urine smell permeated the air, it was so bad that my 7 lb 4 year old poodle wouldn't even sit on the floor, she had to be on the bed. I sucked it up and decided to just stay because we had been on the road for 10 hours and my 1 year old was tired of being in the car. As I got my 1 year old to sleep at around 9, I walked to the other bed to pull back the sheets and crawl in for the night. if it hadn't been so late and my son wasn't asleep, I would have called the front desk. There were long black curly hairs on the white sheets. You couldn't miss them. I got in the bed and slept beside my child, and was so happy to leave the next morning. I will never again stay at a Microtel.
