“Safe Fee”; Dec 17, 2012 Lena H, Chamberlain; I was not very happy to see a safe fee of $1.50 on my check out bill as I did not use it. I don't paying for something if I would have used it. The front desk lady said " she doesn't like it either but she is told to automatically put it on everyones bill". So with that being said I feel this motel is stealing from everyone that doesn't use their safe in the motel room. If you would bill this for several people a year you are making alot on money on people if they didn't use the safe. So I actually am very upset about this and I am taking it a step further and talking to the Better Business Bureau or the States Attorney about this in Pierre SD. It is literally stealing!!

I understand the frustration of being charged an extra charge when you haven't used the safe. We apply the safe fee incase something is stolen in the room it is an insurance and liabilty reason. If you do not wish to pay for the safe fee we will remove the charge when you check in or when you check out. I have had guest notice it when they have returned home and have refunded the charge. We would never steal from a guest and have never refused to not give the money back. « hide
