“Don't Stay Here”

  , Ontario
We stopped at this location while travelling. When we saw the sign saying Microtel by Wyndham we thought it would be a good place to stop. Then we saw a large banner on the top side of the building that read "NOW OPEN" so that convinced us to stop there. When we got to the desk the clerk was pleasant enough. We asked how old the hotel was and he said "at least a couple of years old". We asked about the just open sign and he said that no one has taken it down yet. Obviously a trick to lure customers. We took the room anyway and went to our room. Room was average, but there were sticky spots on the floors and something had been spilled down the bathroom door and not wiped off. The water supply made a loud whine type noise every time a tap or the toilet were used and the shower handle felt like it was going to fall off the wall. The worst part was the noise level. There were only a few cars in the parking lot but the room next to us was rented too. An hour after we went to sleep the tenants arrived in the next room and we realized that there is NO SOUNDPROOFING between the rooms. We could clearly hear every word they said, and when they turned on the radio, it might as well have been playing in our room. Not what we needed at midnight after travelling all day. We ended up turning on a very noisy AC fan to try and drown out the noise from the next room. The topper was the next morning when we went down to the "full continental breakfast". There were a few suspect looking donuts and muffins, and not much more. The coffee foamed up when we poured it - like there was soap in it. A quick taste test confirmed that suspicion. We left and went to a restaurant down the highway for breakfast. This will be the last visit we make to a Microtel.
