We stayed at this Microtel for 8 nights (7 night stay & then added 1 more night) in conjunction with a national event held in the area. Microtel was the "host motel". Great location (quiet, off main road, & convenient to shopping & good restaurants), but hard to find. Phone not answered for 30 minutes when trying to call for directions. Finally stopped at gas station & asked. Initial check-in for the 7 nights was not very impressive. Front-desk person not very welcoming or helpful. Check-in for the 1 night stay was much better. Clerks at check-out both times were fine. Stayed in 2 different rooms - both queen suites. Lay-out & size of rooms was great. Room on 2nd floor (7 night stay) was in much better shape. 1st floor room carpet was torn & stained & couch had a bad spot on it. Housekeeping during the 7 night stay was spotty. Carpet was not vacuumed, window seat was not cleaned, and bathtub was not cleaned. Dusting throughout the room was not consistent. Hairdryer & area below TV had not been cleaned when we arrived & still hadn't been when we left. Comfort of bed was average. One afternoon we returned to motel about 2:15 to relax, but room hadn't been cleaned yet, so had to "relax" in parking lot. Property is 100% non-smoking which is great, however, the butt can placed immediately outside the end door with sign on it stating Oregon law outlaws smoking within 10 feet of doorways detracted from the 100% non-smoking policy. Smokers were also found daily outside main entrance. Security issues included end door on end of facility toward swimming pool set so anyone could open it - no room card required. This was brought to staff's attention & on the 5th night it worked properly. A couple of lights were out in the parking lot. Location advertises truck/RV parking, but parking is very tight for any oversized vehicles especially if more than 1 there at a time. Outside areas well kept. Breakfast was "OK". Early start was appreciated. Orange juice wasn't available one morning and eggs & sausage were out another morning. In the past at other hotel chains that served as "host motel" & offered a special rate we were still awarded points for the rewards program based on actual rate paid. This was not offered at this Microtel for the Wyndham Rewards program. A lot of little things added up to an average rating for a location that has the potential to be "above average". « less
