“Staff Opened and Left Our Room Open All Day”

We have stayed here before but this stay was terrible. We left at 1:00 p.m. for the day making sure to move our Do Not Disturb sign inside and making sure the door was latched. (We both worked at hotels so we are very careful when leaving our rooms). We returned at 8:30 p.m. to find our door wide open and our room had not been serviced. Fortunately, we had stored all of our belongings in the closet so nothing was stolen. We immediately reported it to the front desk. We didn't receive a call from the management that night and had to stop at the desk the next evening to speak to her. We were offered a $10 refund which was completely unsatisfactory due to the lack of security on the part of the hotel. It was blamed on new housekeeping staff but we should have received a call from the management the night of the incident plus a full refund for our stay. Additionally, the third floor had a very distinct spice smell which the staff tried to cover up with perfumed cleaners which only made the smell worse. Very disappointed.
