I recently spent a week and a half at this hotel and can say that almost everyone at the Microtel is extremely nice- especially Maria. Honestly this hotel would be lost without her. My first complaint would be that I never once had a hotel employee or hotel guest offer to hold a door open for me while trying to wheel in one of the old luggage carts or when my arms were full of work materials. This speaks volumes to me about both the integrity of the employees and of some of the guests. FYI the employees and guests I am speaking of were hanging out chatting right next to the doors. They would barely have to get out of their chairs to help. Not very nice in my opinion. Every time this happened it was late in the evening. (Maria did open the door for us each morning as she was walking in) I don't expect the same service as a 4 star hotel, just common courtesy. If I'm ever by a door, I always open it for the next person. There are ironing boards in each room but not irons. I had to wait three days for another guest to return an iron and by that time I had bought my own. I understand that outfitting each room with an iron would be expensive; however, there should be a time limit or an iron check out sheet so the employees could call and see if an iron was finished being used. Here's my biggest complaint. The walls and floors are VERY thin. I could hear absolutely everything going on in every room around me. The ceiling creaked every time someone moved. I would up getting a noise maker too. On the bright side this hotel is clean. It's not far away from work and Maria is super sweet and fixes all problems. Also the rooms are really inexpensive. All in all, you get what you pay for.
