“huge disappointment”

I often stay at Microtel when traveling, and this one was a huge shock and disappointment to me. Other than having a great location, immediately off I-85, everything else was not even close to the standards of Microtel. Specific comments: the facility is old and shabby, needs a total redo. Stains on carpet, broken sink surface, sheets were old and stained. Bedding is old, and needs to be pulled away from wall for a thorough cleaning-- I saw accumulated hair and misc dust and items down between mattress, springs and wall. Room smelled stale and faint odor of former smoker, though it said non-smoking. The lobby floor was sticky near elevator and stairs. Door in stairwell which exits to the back parking lot was unsecured, unable to lock ? and left ajar all night, very poor security issue. If I had not arrived late and very tired, I would have gone elsewhere. In my opinion, Microtel should either completely renovate this location, or else sell it and take down the Microtel sign-- if this had been my first experience, I would never consider the chain again.
