“Horrible conditions for the price”

  , Sacramento
This place sucks. The room/ the ammenities/ the lack of real service and oversight. My friends booked a room for a Wed-Sat stay off internet for $45 night. I phoned them up and booked same nights for similar room (2Q) and best price available was $77 night AARP. Upon arrival friends room had 2 Queen beds as promised. My room (#325) was a tiny, wait TINY closet of a room with 1 Queen bed- no sofa, or much else. Due to them claiming they were maxxed out on occupancy, and I traveled 3000 miles to get there, I didn't contest the dinky room. I tried to rack out. The bed felt like a bag of potatoes and thumbtacks covered in sand paper. --Seriously. Every towel in the joint was like it was made from sun bleached burlap. Brunswick has hard water. Their water stinks, as it comes from sulphur richened wells below the Antlantic Intracoastal Waterway. However, At $77/night, there is plenty of profit to spend on some fabric softener. There is black mold on the silicone caulking in the shower. I guess they can't spare any bleach from the bedding to clean the shower. For a Friday event, I needed to iron my suit. There are no irons in the rooms. I went and borrowed one from the front desk. What they gave me was a relic of an iron that looked like it was bought of QVC in 1983. The iron leaked like Roseanne Barr after an all night beer party. The ironing board appeared to come from a Post Katrina Yard sale pile, complete with deeply set stained cover (apparently from the jewel of an iron.) Their continental breakfast in their lobby was poor quality.--- the drinks reek of the hard sulpher water they are made with. (Juice, Lemonade, Coffee all stink of rotten eggs) Apparently water softening systems and filters are outlawed in Southern Georgia. The biscuits and gravy looked like they were from a Costco liquidation dated 1997. The eggs looked prepackaged in silver dollar pancake shape. hmmm. no good.I spent very little time at the Microtel. I couldn't bear to. I am a regular traveler to the area and have usually stayed at a much better hotel, (whose name rhymes with Hampton Inn and Suites) less than a half mile away for $85. I stayed at the Microtel due to sharing a car with my friends, and needing to stay with them. The Mgr said they usually get over $100 for their rooms, and stopped just short of blaming me for not complaining earlier. After a while, I got a $25 discount. I still feel I got jacked, and will not be using these low end services again.
