“Bait and switch”; Nov 09, 2012 Marionb C, Kansas City; I called Wyndham t0 make a reservation early in the morning of Nov 5. I was quoted a $50.56 rate. I get to the Gallup, NM Inn and see this Marque sign that says $45.95 and 20% off for AARP and AAA. Of course I couldn't understand why if I made a reservation in advance, why I am paying more than an advertised rate available to everyone. A gentleman checked in before me, did not have any discounts and got the same rate that I did, $50.56 plus the taxes. I ask the night clerk how do I get a 45.95 rate. She said something under her breath and I did not press the issue because I was tired and had enough difficulty that evening dealing with the Wyndham Associates because I thought they should be able to cancel my reservation because of Microtel's false advertisement. I ask the morning clerk how do I get the $45.95 rate. The clerk says "I have been here 10 years and do not understand how they do it"!!!!!!!! The bottom line is the Inn was a nice place to stay, The price is right and after getting over the thought of being over charged as a discount card holder, I don't have a problem with the Gallup Microtel Inn. I do feel the Inn management is not being upfront with it's customers by advertising a room rate that is not really available to the travelers.
