“I guess this is the best around?!”

  , Charlotte, North Carolina, Usa
We stayed at this hotel as part of a wedding. This hotel left A LOT to be desired and we would be hard pressed to recommend this venue. The thing that is most surprising is that we were informed by the bride that this was the "better option" -- when compared to the Best Western slightly South on Route 1. That comment makes me nervous to know what the Best Western is like.If you like to eat a healthy breakfast...or have any eating restrictions such as Celiac Disease (gluten-free diet), the "free" breakfast offers little to eat besides raw fruit. I have had "Free Hotel" breakfasts before...this is one to forget. The rooms are fine...the carpet felt old and dingy (not comfortable on our feet) and the beds were soft and had probably not been replaced recently. But hey, at least there was good cable channel selections -- although since you are in beautiful New England, who really wants to be indoors watching TV?The location is fine...close to Kittery. But do not be fooled...there is NO view in this hotel, so do not play in to the "what view" would you want...it would not be worth the upcharge. And the bathrooms do not offer any toiletries beyond a bar of soap...which you will need to place on the sink as there is no soap dish. Though this might sound a little petty, as a frequent traveler, I try to travel with limited toiletries as hotels usually provide all the items I need. Fortunately there is a Rite Aid around the corner. All in all, this is not a hotel I would recommend...given the setting, I imagine we could have found an independent bed and breakfast that offer more charm and comfortable arrangements than this chain hotel which is definitely at the lower end of the chain's offerings.
