“My extended stay at Microtel Belle Chasse”

  , La Place
After Hurricane Issac, my home was flooded and my family and I spent over 2 months in this hotel. During our stay we experienced many of different problems. A few days after we arrived the air conditioner went out in our room and, we were not offered another room, in fact we spent two days with no air conditioning, due to the only maintenance man being off. In the hot, humid summer of Louisiana this was miserable, a fan would have been welcomed, but there was no offer of one. After a few weeks of our stay FEMA began paying for our hotel stay and Microtel continued to bill our credit card while accepting payment from them. When we tried to get our funds back they told us we had to check out to have them returned to us. Two weeks went by and more and more people were checking in who's homes had been destroyed or flooded. Each deadline they would post notes on the doors of the people who were receiving Fema assistance saying we had to put our credit card on file to ensure we can keep our rooms, and many people have experienced the same problem with their funds being taken when they shouldn't have been. Some of the staff began treating us as if we were a problem rather than a guest, and were even rude to our children. After all we had been through, and worrying week to week where our children would sleep ,the last thing we needed was attitude. Most of the staff were very friendly and did their jobs, but most of the time did not have the resources they needed to do their jobs to the best of their ability. It has almost been a week since my family and I have checked out and my funds still have not been returned. By the end of our stay, Microtel had billed us for two weeks, for two rooms that they have already been paid for. The manager is conveniently not there and did not email me the information she promised to concerning my stay.
