“Not What it Used to be.”

I have stayed at Microtel hotels before, however, this was over 10 years ago. Base on my experience with Microtel, I expected an average hotel that was clean and not run down. The Microtel hotel I stayed at recently was run down and was in need a major renovations. When I reserved the hotel online I expected the quality of say a Holiday Inn Express, however, the rooms were more of the quality of an hourly motel. To begin, the outside of the hotel was very deceiving as the it was kept up quite nice. The service from the staff was average, there was no outstanding greeting. Just a quick check-in and check-out, with not much talking involved. The room on the other hand needs major improvements. Something was wrong with door, so everytime I needed to close it I had to slam it in order to get it closed. The restroom was clean, however, the fixtures are rusting, and many of towels had stains on them. The bed was old and not the most comfortable, but I was able to get a decent nights sleep. The window bed (not sure what its called), had stains on it. The TV was old and it was hard to see what was on the channels. And lastly, this hotel is very close to the airport, so when I was driving in to the parking lot, there was a plane landing very close over my car, plus all night you will hear the sounds of planes landing.
