“Here for Ft Benning Graduation”

The location was great as it was not far from Ft Benning and still only a short drive into Columbus. We called and upgraded our room to a suite a couple hours before we arrived. When we got there the rooms were overbooked so a suite was not available. No problem since it was a last minute request.We got to our room to find garbage in the garbage cans, the beds (pillows) were messed up, there was a partially full bottle of water on the table, the bathroom was not clean with toothpaste stains on the bathroom counter.We went down to get a new room assigned and were told the room must have mistakenly been marked as cleaned when it was not. We got keys to the second room and they did not work to let us in so back to the front desk. The room was next to the vending machines so it was fine with us they card keys did not work and we asked for yet another room. We finally made it to a room. The room was small but clean and very acceptable.When we checked it were told there would be a hundred something $$ charge if we smoked in the room. No problem as we are non smokers. We found it interesting that the room doors were marked with no smoking symbols but the halls smelled badly of cigarette smoke. Maybe they had recently changed to a non smoking room policy or maybe people had been smoking in the stairwells?. We didn't detect the smell of smoke in our room.The included breakfast was OK but I wouldn't recommend the eggs which seemed to be like microwave egg patties.The staff was very pleasant and nice and they couldn't do anything more to help improve our experience at Microtel. The location for our purpose was great and the room rate was really good. We choose the based upon and the location and the fact they were part of the Wydham system which we are timeshare owners in and have always had good luck with Wydham facilities. We would not recommend this location based upon our overall experience.
