“Excellent value ...But”

Excellent room, modern, clean and comfortable. Rates quite reasonable -- especially for seniors (that's us).Front desk people outstanding: pleasant, personable, helpful. Continental breakfast quite good and extensive. TV a bit dated (cathide ray tube) but worked very well, with clear, bright picture. A/C occasionally rattled but otherwise worked very well. Two minor negatives: (1) No daily TV listings available and no "info" button on the remote, so there was no way of knowing what we were watching, what time it began, what time it would end, etc. I know there was a listing of the HBO offerings (I gather they paid you guys in some way), but all else was a mystery. I realize TV is not necessarily impoirtant to everyone, but if you happen to be in your room after a wearying day on the road, you'd like to have an idea of what you can relax with on TV. I expect in time you';ll be upgrading with flat TV screens, but in the meantime you ought to consider at least providing a daily newspaper or a copy of the daily TV listings in each room. (2) My second beef is also relatively minor, but it rankles. Last year, when we also booked a room with a senior rate, we were given one in the rear, away from the street traffic. It was quite relaxing. We booked this year's rooms (we stayed July 10 and again July 14) well in advance and requested an upstairs room in the rear, but when we arrived in mid-afternoon each time we were told that our discounted senior rate did not qualify for a rear room. The front-deak people were apologetic, but explained that it was company policy. That's the first time I've heard that approach with a senior room. Sometimes we might get a smaller room, but we've never been told that location was restricted. When we get seniors rates at a movie, we are not shunted to the back row. When we get senior fares on the train, we are not limited to the rear of the car. Why should this policy be applied to seniors staying at your hotels? Other than these two points, we were quite satisfied and certainly will stay there again.
