The Microtel in Anchorage is by far the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed in. For what they charged, I expected something much, much better. I assume that they are only able to stay in business because they are the closest hotel to the airport. Driving into the parking lot and walking up to the front door, it just didn't look right -- windows wide open, un-mowed grass, semi-paved parking lot. Once inside, it for sure wasn't right. Obvious filth. Everything -- the floors, carpet, walls, front desk, the inside of the elevator -- was stained and dirty. We pre-paid through Expedia, so we were stuck. The room itself was a bit better, but still visibly dirty. All the corners in the bathroom had crud caked in them. There was animal hair on the control panel for the air conditioning. The toilet was dirty. The faucet in the bathtub ran constantly and couldn't be shut off. The picture quality on the TV was fuzzy. All night I could hear noise from other rooms -- toilets flushing, vent fans running, doors slamming. The keys on the computer in the lobby were so dirty I hesitated to use it. When I tried to print the boarding pass for my flight, the printer wouldn't work. I was very careful to take as little as possible out of my suitcase so I wouldn't have to put things on the bed or chair.Positives: it didn't smell bad, there were no obvious signs of bugs, and the wi-fi worked fairly well. Breakfast was okay.I would never recommend this Microtel to anyone.
