“No Wake Up Call....No Power In the Morning”

I've always enjoyed staying at Microtels. They're always clean and have firm, comfortable beds. Nothing fancy, just basic, good rooms with a decent complimentary Continental breakfast. One of the best values around in my opinion.However, this particular stay was not one of my best experiences with the motel. To begin with, I never received my wake-up call. When I did wake up on my own, the power was out.(I realize this was not their fault, but it did affect my satisfaction). I wasn't able to take a shower or wash my hair. Since there was no power, I couldn't even curl my hair to make it look presentable.The breakfast was not fully available due to lack of power. The juice dispenser did not work without electricity, etc.Also, the night before, I couldn't get to sleep because the pillows were so uncomfortable.All three pillows on both beds were much to high and too firm. It was like trying to sleep with your head resting on a boulder. I finally got up and out of bed and got a towel out of the bathroom, folded it over and put it inside a pillow case. Only then was I comfortable enough to get some sleep. The mattress was very comfortable. Just wish the pillows were, too.When I checked out I did express my displeasure with what happened and the front desk clerk said he would give me a discount. He was not able to check me out and give me a receipt due to the power outage. He said he would email me my receipt and I received it later that day. I would still stay at this establishment in the future, but hope they can do something about the pillows, and be more reliable about providing wake up calls.
