Upon arrival to the property at 10:30 AM, the area was free of litter and the grounds were well groomed. I located the handicap spaces and the ramp in front of the main entrance. This hotel had three marked handicap spaces. I went up the ramp to check-in in the lobby area. The ramp was large and could accommodate a person with any type of disability.

A female staff member extended a greeting. She requested my name and asked what type of reservation I had. I told her that I had made a reservation in a handicap suite with Cassie. She looked at her notes and said, "ok." She presented a card for completion, asked what rate I had been quoted and stated the total. I provided my credit card and she turned the card over to compare the signature with the signature on the form. She gave me a room key card, a form with my room number written on it and stated the room number out loud in the empty lobby area. She then wished me a pleasant day and told me to enjoy my stay.

I proceeded to my room number 133, which was located at the end of the hall. The room was big and well laid out. Everything was placed well and handy for me. The entry door had two viewers. The closet door and main door handles were waist length, which made them easy to open or close by a person in a wheelchair. The window curtains over the day bed had a loop-ended wand, which made it easy to open the curtains to view the outside. The wand was easy to reach from a wheelchair. The daybed and desk was low so that I could easily maneuver myself from a wheelchair to sit by the window or in the desk chair if I chose not to remain in my wheelchair. The television was located on top of the table. I was able to access the various channels with a remote control located next to the bed. The channel-listing card was on top of the nightstand. The main room lights were located on the right side of the bed. I could turn on or turn off the lights at night without having to get out of the bed. I could turn off the television with the remote without having to leave the bed. The alarm clock in the room was properly set with the correct time. The bathroom was equipped with bars on the walls, by the toilet and inside the bathroom tub. The lighting was adequate and well placed. The bathroom floor was clean and spacious. Both the bathtub and sink were low and easy to maneuver around.

Overall the ADA room was well equipped and provided convenience at the property. I was able to get around the entire property without problems or assistance. The guestroom was very clean and spacious and provided a great view from the windows. The hotel staff made my stay at the Microtel very pleasant and enjoyable. I would gladly stay at another Microtel because of the way it treats it handicapped patrons and takes great care of them.
