I made a reservation with Ken at 3:30 PM. I arrived at the hotel at 5:45 PM. The parking lot had one handicap space available. There was a second space, however it was taken. The ramp was on the left of the occupied space and was located near the front door. The ramp provided easy access for a wheelchair to maneuver or for a person with any disability to walk up.
I arrived at the front desk and a man was waiting to provide assistance. He asked for my name and said that his name was Abha. It was 5:52 PM at this time. He confirmed that we had a handicap room and said that it was a suite with a sofa sleeper. Abha processed my credit card and gave us the card key and said that the room was down the hall and that it was not far. It was not too far for a disabled person.
I used the key at the room and it was easy to operate for a person in a wheelchair. The room was large and the bathroom was right inside the door. The bathroom door opened outward which made it easy to enter or exit in a wheelchair. The door was easy to open and the knob turned easily. The bathroom was equipped with bars on the walls, by the toilet and inside the tub. There were three rails inside the bathtub. There was a rail on the wall across from the bathtub and there was a handrail as well as a towel rack by the toilet. These rails were within comfortable reach and made it easier for me to move around the bathroom. The shower had a handheld, removable showerhead. The shower was floor level. It was easy to bathe while seating and I was not afraid of falling due to the handrails. The lighting was adequate. The floor was not slippery even when wet. The sink was low and I could brush my teeth and wash my hands without very much effort. A wheelchair would fit under sink in the bathroom and also at the bar sink and desk in the room.
The microwave and refrigerator were easy to reach. The ADA room made it easy to turn on the television and a remote was provided. The window seat was easy to reach and the room had a queen-size bed. The desk held the channel card and a coffee table was present in front of the sofa bed. It could be picked up and moved for easier movement for a person in a wheelchair or to pull out the bed. The main room light was located on the right side of the bed. I could turn the lights on or off without leaving the bed.
The ADA room was well designed and made the visit to the property easy, convenient and maneuverable. Assistance was not required from my husband and I was able to enjoy the amenities and the property on my own.
